Maverick acts of graffiti and street art cover cities’ landscapes randomly against the backdrop of predefined, approved architecture. Random and uncontrolled aspects are juxtaposed with order and formality revealing a story of a polarised world – one where dictatorship meets free expression.
This blend of controlled and uncontrolled is translated as an intuitive response represented on canvas and demonstrates the artist’s unique eye in the discerning art from atypical sources.

- – Drawing on recurring themes of the transformational and artistic freedom of urban spaces, ‘Say What?’ was prompted by glue left behind from a torn down poster. Why was it removed? What did it say? And, vitally, what will replace it? All this celebrates the layers of different artistic expression that overlay each other as seemingly insignificant walls become blank canvases for creative expression.
