We are delighted to announce the upcoming exhibition, ‘Devrim Erbil: Inspirations,’ commemorating the 60th year of the iconic Turkish artist Devrim Erbil’s illustrious career. Set to take place at the Istanbul Cinema Museum on 20th April 2024, this exclusive exhibition promises a captivating journey through Erbil’s diverse artistic repertoire, alongside works from 34 esteemed artists who have shared his creative path.
Renowned as the ‘Poet of Painting,’ Devrim Erbil’s lifelong dedication to capturing the essence of Istanbul’s beauty and the Anatolian landscape is celebrated in this special showcase. From his mesmerising Istanbul Galata and Anatolian Variations series to his innovative oil paintings, mosaics, and digital creations, Erbil’s works evoke a sense of joy and vitality, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Turkish modern art.

Joining Erbil in this landmark exhibition are 34 esteemed artists, whose paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media artworks contribute to the vibrant tapestry of Turkish contemporary art. Curated by Renk Erbil and organised by Renko London, ‘Devrim Erbil: Inspirations’ promises to be one of the most significant and highly anticipated art events of 2024.
Housed within the historic Istanbul Cinema Museum, located in the heart of Pera on Istiklal Avenue, this iconic venue offers a unique setting for art and culture enthusiasts. Boasting a collection of over 130 cinematic treasures, the museum provides a fitting backdrop for Erbil’s milestone exhibition, bridging 60 years of Turkish modern art with the vibrant energy of Istanbul.

As part of the museum’s extensive renovations, visitors can explore the newly refurbished ISM Gallery, featuring national and international artworks, as well as the Atlas 1948 cinema, which will host a variety of performing arts and musical events. With its neo-classical facade, exquisite interior decor, and architectural splendour, the Istanbul Cinema Museum offers a captivating blend of history and contemporary artistry.
